New York Times bestselling author Ptolemy Tompkins, with the help of Tyler Beddoes, one of the responding officers who helped rescue Lily, will explain this modern-day miracle and the existence of angels in our world. Disappointing As I read the reviews, I don't understand how this book got a 4.
I feel like I was generous with a 3 star. I think the storyline was a good idea, but the story seemed disjointed and at times disconnected. The writing style seemed more like a Young Adult style. Characters were thrown into the story and were never properly developed. There were some exciting moments, but then they were dropped before the reader was given time to connect the event to the storyline. Sasha Disappointing As I read the reviews, I don't understand how this book got a 4. Sasha spent the majority of the book being chased by zombies.
She cleverly avoids being killed, but then is chased again. Characters are thrown into the story and then disappear with no explanation. Sasha is then taken into another world, but the reader is not sure how or why. At the last minute, the reader is given a minimal explanation. I love paranormal stories, but this one just didn't do it for me. I won't continue with this series. She has been practicing her magic tricks for years, and enjoys showing off her talents to friends and patrons alike. But atm it's more as a side gig It isn't until she is finally invited onto a TV show to display her methods to a live crowd that things start to go really wrong. Sasha suddenly finds her self the target 3.
Sasha suddenly finds her self the target of some nefarious plot after she takes the sketchy advice to let the audience think her tricks are actually real psychic premonitions instead of mentalism--this also puts her on some dangerously powerful peoples radars!
So, I had fun reading this for the most part, and I'm seeing the possible potential in the strory- so I will read on! Oct 27, A rated it it was ok. I was excited to read this book; it seemed like it would be interesting and unique.
She questions whether or not it was real multiple times. Oh, I got it the first time since she had been glamoured and all, but multiple times? Come on! Could I really be this dumb? Or was it all just a dream? I can only hope Sasha evolves into a less cringe-worthy heroine as the series progresses. Mar 04, Alicia Miller rated it liked it Shelves: owned-read , read , kindle.
The general idea for the story was pretty interesting, but execution was not great. Here, you go from dragging your feet to a full on sprint. In fact, most of her confusion towards the midd The general idea for the story was pretty interesting, but execution was not great. This made the story kind of bland for me, and situations that should have made me squirm with anticipation left me feeling unenthused. Aug 03, Coco. She is thrilled when she can finally perform on TV.
From then on, she will discover a world of which she knew nothing about and which her friends share. But our heroine will not have time to understand exactly what is happening: she must try to survive!
I had a good time with the novel, it was very nice to have something different. What about Nero and Darian? Arghh, I want to know more!!!!! We follow Sasha in her discovery of this new universe, of these all different creatures and especially in her understanding of what she can and cannot do. Notes: OK start to a UF series.
MC is a bit of ditz but maybe she will level up in the process of learning. Nov 14, Monica Hills rated it really liked it. This was an interesting start to a new series for me about a woman who is a mentalist. She wants to someday have her own show however she suffers from crippling anxiety in front of a crowd.
She gets an opportunity to go on a show and show what she can do. When there she gets attacked and then all hell breaks loose in her world. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more. Aug 14, Lori S. A surprisingly delightful and fun read.
Interesting fun Wow right from the start Sasha was in trouble but not sure what was going on. She really had a wild ride with all types of creatures. I enjoyed the story. It was fun and the characters were a wild bunch as well. Can't wait to see what's going to happen next. I loved this book. With walking dead, zombie battles and car chases there is plenty of excitement. By the end of this book you will be hooked on this new seri I loved this book.

This is an interesting book in an interesting world - and I'm sure I'm going to have to read further to completely understand the world. I would rate this book higher, but it is written in present tense - and that always screws with my psyche.
Sep 03, Melindeeloo marked it as dnf. No negatives exactly, just didn't grab me I was drawn in by the synopsis but found the story confusing! And I didn't like Sasha! I found the last third of the story was the best part! This is a review of the first two books which I have just torn through on audio in under two days. There were some things wrong with this series, but what was right with it massively outweighed them, for me at least, I really enjoyed them both.
Important thing first No cliff-hangers here and all loose ends tied up as you would like. I just wanted more of Sasha's world so I started in on the second book immediately. Emily Durante narrates the audio exactly as we This is a review of the first two books which I have just torn through on audio in under two days.
Emily Durante narrates the audio exactly as well as you would expect her to. She adds to the story as always. I particularly enjoy her vocal range so that even with a fairly large cast of characters you always know who is speaking. It just makes it so easy to listen, even to a series and an author that was new to me, while getting all my end of summer chores done. In fact I found myself inventing more stuff to do just to finish the book in peace : Sasha's world is a completely new and different one.
It's established well by the author s without any too-horrendous info dumps. And I just liked her. First person POV in my opinion either works or doesn't purely based on the main characters internal dialogue. For me - this really worked.
Sasha is a logical soul and queries things, even in her own mind. There were little things that made these better books for me I found her interest in Illusions and mentalism fascinating - it was SO credibly done i.
That level of knowledge shows and it simply becomes part of who Sasha is. So what was wrong with it? Or how the book or movie will end I hate it when a protagonist is an entire book and half behind my own plot psychic abilities. The desire to scream at her I mean it's not rocket science to work out what her boss actually is I'm also tired of the worn-out trope of "If I make my heroine too tired to think straight I can use it as an excuse for any old crap that I want" Just plot a little smarter and let the girl get some sleep.
But I really enjoyed both books and I really hope the audio comes out the same time as the ebook and not months behind it. October is about as long as I can wait. I think if you want something a bit different you'll enjoy it. Fast paced, fun, unexpected supernatural read.
I liked that her magic is just real life magic tricks - and enjoyed seeing behind the scenes on a few of them. Enjoyable read. And now I want a chinchilla. Sep 17, Lyndi W. Too confusing, TSTL heroine, no satisfying payoff. I don't think I'll continue this series. May 23, Ashleigh Reverie rated it it was amazing.
Loved it- the characters are fab, the story is exciting with plenty of action and twists and turns, and there are some really gruesome descriptions that made my head spin! There is still a lot to be explained.
I will definitely be reading book number 2! I was looking forward to reading this book as it had a good storyline. Unfortunately, for me it took quite a while to get into it so I found myself skimming quite a bit of the book waiting for the good bits This story is about Sasha, a mental illusionist, who desperately wants to be famous for what she does and eventually have her own tv show.
For most of the book I was confused as to what was going on as there were a lot of dreams that seemed like reality and these were in fact premonitions. In I was looking forward to reading this book as it had a good storyline.
In places it became very gory and gruesome which I normally like but some parts were a bit too much I felt. Received as an ARC in return for an honest review. I had a slow time getting into it the first few chapters, but it became strangely addictive after the book metaphorically cleared its throat. Looking forward to Sasha's next adventure. Apr 11, Devan rated it did not like it. If I hadn't read this for a book club I would have never finished it. Sep 02, Mara marked it as sampled.
Personal note to self. Mmm I can't say this book has a strong beginning. The sample is a couple of chapters and unfortunately it raises so many doubts: -if she's suffering from panic attacks when in public to the point of being phobic and needing medication why accepting a TV appearance?
